Oppo is one of the biggest smartphone companies you’ve never heard of. Already #2 in China, they’ve just made it to the fourth in the world. Despite their relentless and obsessive focus on beauty, function, and design, the world still sees Oppo as just another phone manufacturer from China. In 2019 W+K Shanghai was appointed as Oppo’s agency of record to change this perception globally. By launching Reno, a new Oppo smartphone series, we aim to reposition them as an innovative tech brand full of color, imagination and humanity.
We announced the release of their new flagship series “Reno” with the film “Ingenious Factory”, which opens on a drab, monotonous assembly line that quickly evolves unexpectedly into a colorful studio of creators and tech innovation.
The film “Fantastic Bus” shows how Reno’s powerful zoom function can transform anyone’s boring daily bus ride into an entertaining battle between giant animals.
After establishing a playful tonality for the brand, we created a series of product feature films that brought Reno’s impressive tech features to life in colorful and humorous ways, reposition Oppo as an innovative tech brand full of imagination and humanity.
